Next interesting event~! The 14th Busan International Travel Fair (BITF) will be held in Bexco on September 2nd to 5th 2011.
Many cities in Korea and about 30 different countries will open representative booth to promote their touristic place and interesting things you can do when you visit them. There will be also some performances shown during the event.
This event would be a nice event for you who like to travel or want to know more about nice touristic places. The entrance fee is 2000 won for adult and 1000 for children, very cheap~!!! Wow~ Today also one of historical day for South Korea specially for Daegu citizen because today they open one of world event, 2011 World Championships in Athletics in Daegu city. This event make the list of world event held in Korea more longer (read here).
Many people from all over the world come to Daegu for this one of world's top sporting events as contestant or supporter to cheer the athletes from their country. The event will be held from today, August 27th until September 4th 2011. You can see the schedule, here. I am sure this would be a wonderful event~ :")

Korean goverment invites 100 international students from 62 countries who wish to pursue a bachelor's degree in Korea.
To be selected as a KGSP grantee, any applicant should successfully pass trough the 1st selection process se by the Korean embassies (or Consulates) of his or her origin.
So to apply for the program, please contact the 1st selection organizations to get detailed information on the 1st selection process such as application deadline and required documents, etc.
*Application deadline may differ from one to another; it will be expected to fall in late September or early October 2011.

Waaaa~~ I miss teaching cute Korean students in their school! I knew this program from Mbak Dini, thank you, sist! :") It was a great experience introducing Indonesian culture to the children and I was teaching from 2006 until 2009 (until I don't have time to do that again *sigh*).
Cross-Cultural Awarness Program (CCAP) from UNESCO is a program to introduce the children about different culture, so that the children will aware of globalization era. In Busan, the program is managed by Busan Metropolitan City Office of Education. They invite foreigner as volunteer to give a short class about the culture of their country. I really love to do this. Children are sooooo adorable~! :")
I love to teach elementary school student than junior or high school student! Even it is more difficult to make a joke with them, they more enthusiastic and enjoy the class. Also they always wonder and ask a lot of questions (sometimes silly though). The funniest question I ever had about Indonesia was do we also have comedian in Indonesia! (Korean comedian program was really famous that time) What a cute question!
I love the part when I teach them simple Indonesian language! They pronounced it very well. I also usually have a game of '3-6-9/삼육구' in Indonesian after I taught them numbers in Indonesian. Cosplay part also can be a funniest part, because sometime I ask some students to have like a fashion show with Indonesian traditional clothes (batik) if we have many time left.
After the class, usually some students gave me a small present, such as Korean souvenir or just a pictured drawn by them. But the most amazing present I got from a CCAP class was a 'performance'! Yeah, a performance! They prepared it to show to this foreign teacher. It was Korean traditional music performance in a medium-sized stage with me as the only one audience! I just felt like a princess of the day! :") The show was amazing!
I wish someday I can make this kind of program, inviting international friends to introduce their culture to Indonesian students, so the students will understand culture diversity, proud of their culture and respect other people. :")
If you are foreigner come to Busan, especially to Shinsegae Department -The biggest department store in the world-, don't forget to bring your passport! Because you will get a special gift! Free bag and a lot of vouchers that you can use in the department store.
You can get the vouchers from the information center in the first floor of department store. Just ask for voucher for foreigner and they will ask you to show your passport. Thank you, Ruqaiya, Malaysian friend, for giving me this information. :")
The free bag has Hangeul (korean character) decoration. It is really worth to get as a free bag, hahaha~ You can get the bag if you give the voucher with a receipt of any purchase from the department store.
Beside free bag, you can find a lot of vouchers inside the envelope. There are voucher for food, shopping, ice rink, spa land, cosmetics, and so on. You can see here from the picture.

Pusan National University Indonesian students celebrated Indonesia independence day by wearing batik :")

흥겨운 인도네시아 독립기념일
지난 8월에는 한국과 인도네시아에 아주 중요한날이 있었다. 맞다, 독립기념일이 있었다. 한국은 8월 15일이고 인도네시아는 17일이다. 똑같은 년도이며 이틀 차이이다! 그때 한국과 인도네시아는 일본의 식민 통치에서 해방되었다.
처음 한국에 왔을 때 나는 8월 15일에 뭐가 있을까 아주 기대를 많이 했었다. 왜냐하면 인도네시아에서 독립기념일이 즐겁고 흥겨운 날이기 때문이다. 그러나 8월 15일이 왔을 때 아무런 일이 없고 보통날인 것 같아서 조금 놀랬다. 어디든지 태극기를 게양하고 특별한 곳에 축제가 있기는 하지만 인도네시아의는 분위기와 다르다.
인도네시아에서는 8월 17일이 다가오면 길가에 조그마한 국기를 달고 국기에 들어가는 색깔인 하얀색과 빨간색으로 된 액세서리로 길을 예쁘게 꾸민다. 그 날은 빨간 날 공휴일이지만 학교, 정부 기관, 그리고 대부분의 회사들의 사람들은 아침 국기 게양식에 참석해야 한다. 초등학교 학생들이 보통 전통 옷을 입고 학교 주위에서 퍼레이드를 한다. 그날에 여러 가지 대회도 열린다. 제일 많이 하는 대회는 줄다리기, 자루입고 빨리 달리기, 과자 빨리 먹기 대회, 그리고 빈랑자 나무 (열대 나무 이름, 코코넛 나무와 비슷함) 오르기 대회이다. 이런 대회를 여는 이유가 바로 영웅 정신을 기억하기 위한 것이다.

내가 말한 첫 세 개의 대회는 우리가 다 알고 있는 것이다. 이번에는 빈랑자 나무 오르기 대회에 대한 이야기를 나누고 싶다. 먼저 윤활유를 끼얹은 긴 빈랑자 나무 한 그루를 준비한다. 윗부분에 여러 가지 상품이 걸려 있다. 대회를 시작할 때 도전자들이 상품을 얻기 위해서 빈랑자 나무를 올라가야 한다. 나무가 굉장히 미끄럽고 딴 도전자와 경쟁해야 되기 때문에 쉬운 일이 아니다. 열심히 올라가고 있는 도전자가 너무 미끄럽거나 딴 도전자가 당기기 때문에 아래로 떨어지려는 것을 보는 것은 너무 웃긴다. 윤활유, 땀, 과 땅에 떨어져 흙이 묻은 도전자의 몸. 불쌍하지만 정말 웃지 않을 수가 없다. 비록 상품을 모두다 못 받더라도 상품을 받는 도전자가 있으면 시청자가 자기가 상품을 받는 것처럼 똑같이 흥분으로 가득한다. 참 촌스럽지만 이런 대회는 원하는 것을 이루기위해서 투쟁, 인내, 협력을 표현하고 있는 대회이다.
타국에 있는 인도네시아인들이 8월 17일의 분위기를 모두 그리워할 것이다. 그날 아침에 전 세계에 있는 인도네시아 대사관에서 국기 게양식도하고 타국에 있더라도 인도네시아에 있는 것처럼 여러 가지 대회도 한다.

Hari ini di Korea tanggalan merah! Hari ini 15 Agustus, hari kemerdekaan Korea atau disebut juga dengan Gwangbokjol (광복절). Ya, Hari kemerdekaan Korea hanya berbeda 2 hari dari kemerdekaan Indonesia, 17 Agustus 1945, karena sama seperti Indonesia, hari ini mereka memperingati kebebasan terlepas dari penjajahan Jepang. Kata 'Gwangbok' artinya adalah 'kembali menemukan cahaya' yang berarti mendapatkan kembali hak sebagai negara yang sempat hilang karena penjajahan Jepang.
Dulu waktu aku baru datang ke Korea, menjelang hari kemerdekaan Korea, aku penasaran sekali bagaimana mereka akan merayakannya, festival atau perayaan seperti apa yang akan mereka adakan, mengingat 17-Agustusan di Indonesia yang sangat semarak sekali. Aku juga penasaran apa di Korea mereka juga mengadakan upacara 15-Agustusan di sekolah-sekolah seperti di Indonesia. Namun aku sedikit merasa aneh dan kecewa, bahwa ternyata tidak ada acara khusus untuk merayakan hari kemerdekaan di Korea. Mereka hanya memasang bendera Taegukgi (bendera negara Korea) di rumah atau di jalan-jalan dan melakukan upacara di lembaga-lembaga pemerintahan (juga dengan mengundang perwakilan-perwakilan negara lain). Orang korea pada umumnya manfaatkan tanggal merah ini untuk beristirahat di rumah.
Dua hari lagi hari peringatan kemerdekaan Indonesia. Aku jadi merasa rindu suasana Indonesia dan ramainya acara tujuhbelas Agustusan. :")
World Student Korea (WSK) is an international bloggers program fun by Korean government of Presidental Council on Nation Branding (국가브랜드위원회). It means to promote cultural exchange and to strengthen ties between Korea and the blogger's home country. They also provide the member with the opportunity to experience Korea with a lot's of activities such as visiting touristic site in Korea, making or taste Korean traditional food, and other relevant events. I like writing blogs about my experience in Korea, I like travelling and love to meet other international friends, so I thought it will be nice to join the program :")
This Friday (August 12th 2011) I attended the WSK award ceremony for the 4th batch and 5th batch launching in Korea House (한국의 집, close to 충무로역 exit no 3), Seoul. I was really glad to meet other WSK Indonesian fellows and other international friends. The event was:
1. Hear the opening speech from the chairwoman of Presidential Council on Nation Branding, Bae Yong Lee
2. The announcement of 4th batch winner
3. 5th batch launching and photo session
4. The presentation of the 4th batch winner
5. Presentation of famous Korean blogger who promote his country while during his stay in New York, Woosung Kang
6. Experience of make a beautiful mirror using Hanji, Korean traditional paper.

Igidae (이기대) is one of beautiful beach in Busan, South Korea, with beautifull cliff and hiking tracks. Quite similar to famous touristic site Taejeondae, but I prefer Igidae because it offers you a nice scenery of Gwangan bridge, Haeundae beach, Nurimaru APEC house and Oryuk-do (five-six islands) from a far away. The location is easy to find and well facilitated. You can find a big map of the site near the parking lot of Igidae.
The origin name of Igidae is come from the time of Japanese invanded in late 16th century. When Japanese conquered Suyeongseong Fortress and held a feast to celebrate their victory at a open spot that have a pleasant scenery, two Korean gisaeng (female professional entertainers) were taken to the feast. They seized a drunken Japanese commander and jumped into the sea as a reprisal against the Japanese invasion of their homeland. Therefore, the name Igidae, which means two gisaeng was given to this place.
In Igidae we can enjoy the natural melody of wave, breeze wind of sea, hiking track, green mountain, foot message track, iron bridge, cave between the cliff, some poem sculptured on a stone and many more. Igidae also one of place where the famous Korean film 'Haeundae' took a scene.
In Igidae, you can see a lot of stone piles. You may wonder what it is. That's represent people hope. They put a stone in a pile and pray their wish to become true.
How to get there:
Take bus no 22, 27 or 39 (from 경성대학교●부경대학교 Kyungsung Univ●Pukyong Nat'l Univ subway station) then stop at 이기대입구(Igidae gate).
